This year, autumn fashion is all about style and sophistication, but I’m also loving the element of fun, play and daring that’s bringing a bit of summer into the dark days of winter. As the days turn colder, I’ve been trying to update my wardrobe to create sleek silhouettes – the autumn and winter catwalks for this year were full of gorgeous jumpsuits and tunic tops, which are perfect for tall girls.
I’m big and tall, so one of my essential winter buys will be a classic jumpsuit that will flatter my long legs and torso. Jumpsuits are great for tall girls because they create a simple, unified silhouette, and I’m loving this palazzo style jumpsuit. The wide trouser legs are perfect for this season and the flattering neckline draws attention up towards your face. I’m going to pair it with loose, ruffled hair, big earrings and a leather jacket for a retro 70s look.
For days when I’m feeling a bit more reserved, I’m stocking up on floaty tunics and tops. I love this bird print tunic. For an evening out with the girls I’ll be pairing it with skinny jeans and boots, or for a day at the office I can team it with some tailored black trousers.
Autumn trends may be on my mind, but as far as the fashion world’s concerned, it’s time to start looking beyond the dark evenings to spring, and the high fashion set are already making predictions about what fashion crushes we’ll be harbouring in spring 2012. According to Drapers magazine, it will all be about bright colours and psychedelic prints, perfect for maxi dresses and skirts which were made with the big and tall in mind.
Off the catwalk, my favourite fashion news of the week has to be the revelation that Kate Moss spends much of her time these days cooking. She revealed her secret talent to a reporter earlier this week and added that she is an absolute whiz at whipping up a Sunday roast, with the gravy being her speciality.
She claimed that it was so good, her friends even request that she makes it for them when she goes to their houses. Perhaps she’ll follow in the footsteps of fellow gorgeous model Lorraine Pascale and launch her own cookery show? We can only hope…
