Florence Welch walks tall on the London red carpet POSTED BY toubie 07.03.12
Quirky songstress and tall girl fashion icon Florence Welch wowed onlookers and fashion professionals alike this week when she took to the red carpet for the Britain Creates 2012: Fashion & Art Collusion VIP Gala in London.
True to style, Florence wore a black flowing chiffon gown – this one was designed by British design darling Julien MacDonald – which she complemented with hot pink and black Christian Louboutin shoes and minimal make-up, giving her a romantic, ethereal look.
The event, which took place at the Old Selfridges Hotel on 27 June, was conceived by the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation in partnership with the Mayor of London. It’s a unique opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the long-standing relationships between fashion designers and visual artists. Several names have collaborated to produce specially commissioned one-off works of art in honour of the event.
Although Florence has a flair for the dramatic when it comes to dressing, many of her style tricks can be translated easily into more everyday fashion choices. Her love of lace is set to be a favourite in the coming A/W 2012 collections. To get yourself ready, bag a couple of wardrobe staples like this lovely dark indigo lace t-shirt, which can be teamed beautifully with skinny jeans and killer heels, or even ballet pumps.
If you love dresses as much as Florence, who is definitely a tall girl at 5’9” in flats, try our gorgeous Contrast Trim Dress with pleat detail. Made from floaty and feminine chiffon, with softly shaped capped sleeves, this dress features a soft pleated front panel and an adjustable contrast waist tie and neckline for a swirl of hot pink colour: a great nod to Florence’s monochrome dress teamed with hot pink satin shoes.
A perfect piece of day-to-evening wear, you could match this dress with heeled sandals – or even undercut its glamour with a pair of Converse for an off-duty, grunge-princess look!
