Wedding dress help
(6 posts)-
Obvioulsy LTS do not stock wedding dresses, so I hope that my question will be posted. Can anyone suggest or recommend a make or designer ( funds allowing) who make or style wedding dresses for us tallies? I am 6' size 10 and so far the response from shops has been ' we can send away to be altered'. Just how they are going to add inches to a gown designed for a 5'6 person is beyond me!

I am 6ft size 10 and got my dress from a local bridal shop. I think it was Caroline Castigliano? However, they were so pleased with the fact that it actually fitted me without any shortening that they hired it to me for half price. Draw back is that you don't get to keep it but what do you do with it anyway??Posted 3 years ago #

Hi Dawn - I'm 6ft1 & a size 12 and I managed to get a fab dress last year by Sophia Tolli which didn't need any ateration lengthwise (I just had to have it taken in to fit me perfectly!) I tried on loads of dresses looking for "the one" and hers generally seemend to be longer than most other designers. Another one to look out for is Benjamin Roberts but lengths vary from style to style. As far as your budget goes, Sophia Tolli's website is one of those where no prices are listed. Following extensive research on my part last year (I REALLY wanted one of her dresses!) as a guide they're between £750 -£2500. Bear in mind if you can get your hands on one in a sale you can get some massive reductions - I ended up paying £300 for a £1200 dress! Check out their websites for local stockists & go shopping...
Good luck with your search

Hmm, just sent off a response to try and help you but now i'm not sure if it'll get posted - I'm worried me recommending designers etc is going to be classed as advertising so you won't see the response. Still, if it does squeak through, I've got an additional one for you - Maggie Sottero can order your dress in a longer length if you need it. again you'll need to check out her website for stockists Have you joined and posted this thread on a very well known UK wedding website? they have both a forum for dresses & one for tall brides. Only asking because there you're pretty much free (within reason) to name as many suggestions of designers & price ideas as you like without it being taken as advertising so you might get more help. Fingers crossed you find what you're looking for! Lilly.Posted 3 years ago #

I still find it unbelievable that LTS haven't brought out 1. a wedding dress range, and 2. a wedding shoes range. Who wants to trawl around looking for white shoes in a 9.5 and trying on dress after dress...and them being never long enough? I put it to you, LTS that this would be a highly profitable venture.
